Throw a Cupcake Party

Picking a theme for your party can be difficult, especially if it’s for an older crowd and you don’t want to force upon them an old activity (think Pictionary) or the guests just need a change to get excited about. So consider having a cupcake party! There are many ways to expand upon this theme, whether you bake the base cupcakes ahead of time and let guests decorate their own (and of course providing doggie bags to take some home in) or you create several kinds for them to munch on and try their hand at another crafting type activity.

A great example is for these Spackle Cupcakes. Once in awhile I find a really great tutorial for a more complex craft. This particular one from Lisa is almost Good Enough to Eat for “cupcakes” created from lightweight spackle, craft foam and bits of colorful paper and embellishments. What’s great about this craft is by the time guests are finished creating their own faux cupcakes, they’ll be more than ready to delve into your real offerings.

Now try your hand at some real cupcakes. Whether it’s a Betty Crocker or Duncan Hines mix as your base or from scratch, cupcakes are always a crowd favorite!
