A great activity to bring the ladies together (or gentlemen) is a jewelry making party. Giving it a specific medium or theme, like basic wire wrapping will help keep the party simple and affordable for everyone.
Basic wire wrapping is easy to learn or even instruct, with the right instructor. There are a lot of how-to guides on the web, that make following the instructions pretty darn easy. I’ve even included a You Tube instructional video at the bottom from BeadBee, along with some helpful links.
There are several different loops in wire wrapping and beading, but the basic loop is for anyone! All you need is some head pins, beads or crystals, flush cutters, round nose pliers and flathead pliers. A nice mat, piece of cloth or fleece is a great working space, to keep beads from rolling away.
The Art of Megan:Create a pair of long dangly earrings from several loops and beads.
Making Jewelry: Create a single beaded earring with one loop.
Fusion Beads: A great place for materials and instructions.
Once you’ve gotten the hang of the basic loop, everyone can create away on their own personal projects!
For this kind of crafting party, we recommend either eating before or afterwards or simply serving a small buffet of finger foods. Since guests will be either providing their supplies or reimbursing you (beading supplies costs can add up fast) you should count on providing the sustenance to fuel your guests through their beading adventure.
To with the wire and loops, try serving a classic Italian dinner of homemade spaghetti and meatballs, garlic bread and green salad.
